Flush With Success

The Memphis Colonels Cap Their Winning Season With a Toilet Bowl Victory!

The year 2009 could not contain the awesomeness of the 2009 World Fantasy Football League season; as action spilled over into the first weekend of 2010, when Toilet Bowl 8 between the Washington Federals and the Memphis Colonels put a lid on the best WFFL season so far.  In an exciting game between two former champions the Memphis Colonels floated to the top, 107-83.

The Colonels had been a team starved for success since their World Bowl IV title in 2005, suffering through two 7-7 seasons followed by two losing campaigns.  But this year, Memphis featured one of the highest scoring offenses in the league, battling to a respectable 8-6 record, only to fall just short of the playoffs.  However, entering the Toilet Bowl bracket as the #1 seed, the Colonels routed the Bulldogs (138-27) and outflanked the Heroes (92-89) to get to their Toilet Bowl 8 matchup with a tough 7-7 Washington squad.

This is Memphis's second time to win the Porcelain Prize trophy, their first Toilet Bowl victory came in 2002.

WFFL action in 2010 will crank back up this summer, with the draft in late August.

World Bowl VIII Recap

On Top Of The World

The Canada Courier du Bois Are WFFL Champs For the Second Year In A Row!

Capping off a block-buster 2009 World Fantasy Football League season, World Bowl VIII's rematch of last year's championship game ended with the same result: the Canada Courier du Bois beat the Baltimore Bombers, 103-72, to claim their second consecutive Sal Collaziano trophy.

Canada's defense of their 2008 title got of to a rocky start, with the CCDB loing their first two games of the 2009 season.  But starting in week three, Canada launched into a historic 10-game win streak to propel them easily past the rest of the Radical Division and into the #1 seed in the playoffs.  Despite losing their last two games of the regular season, Canada was simply too far ahead of the rest of the league for those results to matter in the final tally.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Courier du Bois dispatched the Wild Card Champions and playoff newcomers St. Louis Mad Mules, 117-90.  Canada had already won the right to host World Bowl VIII as winners of World Bowl VII, so they advanced to a home game rematch against the Bombers, who Canada had also bested in Baltimore at last year's championship game.

Down in the Toilet Bowl bracket: the Memphis Colonels flushed the Dublin Heroes, 92-89; and the Washington Federals wiped out the Mississippi RebelYell, 126-122.  Memphis will face Washington in Toilet Bowl 8 next week.
